SERPENTINE: TEMPLE DANCERS OF THE SERPENT MYTHOS

Serpentine is a dark tribal/butoh fusion belly dance duet founded in 2005 by Aradia and Lucretia*Renee. Presently, Aradia and Lucretia*Renee are co-founders, co-designers, co-choreographers of Serpentine; together they merge their passions of art and dark tribal belly dance in a unique exploration of self-expression and goddess devotion. Serpentine explores the ancient art of storytelling through spectacle and ritual; each performance is a living vivid painting. Along with writing unique choreography, each artist creates their own costumes, stage props, and fire dancing tools.

One of Serpentine’s missions from conception is to collaborate with different musicians, dancers, and artists. Through the creative expression and ritual honoring we become stronger supporting each other’s visions and pushing the envelope to create the unimaginable.

Serpentine has performed with talented artists/ musicians such as Faith & The Muse, Cheb i Sabbah, Soriah, Azphodel, Jill Tracy, Paul Mercer, March Fourth, and many more.

Serpentine has also coordinated East:Meets:West, a community celebration of dark fusion belly dance. As the goddess is honored through ecstatic dance, our communities grow stronger. As we consecrate our bodies and the land on which we dance, we unite. Each year this event grows and attracts like-minded dancers and performers from across the states.

The rites of Serpentine open into a new aeon. As a transformative duet, Aradia & Lucretia*Renee explores the beauty and mysterious rituals of butoh: reinventing to birth the serpent mythos.

Ritual Movement Arts (RMA) workshops are an innovative blend of Hatha Yoga and Tribal Fusion Belly Dance. RMA founder and instructor, Aradia Sunseri, has developed a blend of techniques that focuses on creative self-expression, core strength, sensuality, and sacred movement. The yogic practice enables participants to dive deeper into their dance and gain an overall sense of peace.
